Our guide awaits you on the centrally located Grote Markt square. Next to the church there is a statue of Laurens Janszoon Coster, where our guide will await you. Look out for the white umbrella with our logo on it!

Please note that there is another monument in the city of Laurens Janszoon Coster, avoid navigating to the statue as you may be guided to the wrong one. You should be on a large square, with the City Council Hall on one side and the Great Church right next to you. Click here for the street view of the start location.

Your reservation will be secured until 10 minutes before the tour, after that we may appoint your spot to others.

FAQ

Us Dutchies are notoriously known for our punctuality. If you book with us, you receive a confirmation saying that we will hold your spot until 10 minutes before the tour. After this, we may allocate your spot to other travellers. After the guide leaves the meeting point, they can’t be reached anymore by phone and there is no catching up with the group in the labyrinth of downtown Haarlem.

If you are late, the best thing to do is book the next available tour.

Recognizing a Rotterdam guide is easy:

  • We carry a white umbrella with an orange Free Walking Tour logo on it.
  • We are standing in front of the Markthal, with a curious attitude towards meeting new people.
  • We look very excited to tell our new friends about our beloved city.

We accept walk-ins if we have spots available. However, our tours can book up fast and our guides will always give priority to those who booked beforehand.

You can always try! Sometimes, people do not show up and we allocate their place to others.

Please understand that we limit our groups to approximately 25 people, in order to keep the quality and pace of the tour high. When the tour is fully booked online and you really want to join, just come to the meeting point 15 minutes before the tour starts. If we really can’t take you with us, you will at least be in the heart of our beautiful city.

The tour is free and based on tips only, so you decide the reward. At the end of the tour, the guide will ask for a donation that you find fitting. People that enjoy the tour give around €10 per person, however we cater to every budget and appreciate the gesture first and foremost.
